RAF Fighter Airfields of World War 2

It was Winston Churchill who summed up the importance of the role of Fighter Command during the dark days of the Battle of Britain, when all that stood between Britain and potential defeat were the squadrons of Fighter Command, when he commented that 'Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few'. The 'Few', the men of Fighter Command, whose careers were graphically portrayed in the film 'The Battle of Britain' were based at airfields, like Tangmere and Biggin Hill, that have entered into legend.
In his latest book, which complements ideally his earlier volume of RAF bomber airfields of World War 2, Jonathan Falconer examines the history of the various Fighter Command bases occupied by the RAF — from the famous to the less well-known. Information given includes data on the squadrons based at the individual airfields and much else. The book is fully illustrated with both photographs and line drawings.
