This book is an essential contribution to a deeper understanding of the motion of the earth in space, to geodynamic processes, such as global tectonics, earthquakes, earth tides etc., and possible climatic effects caused by natural perturbations. Long-period (from centuries to semidiurnal) variations of earth rotation are discussed, where underlying earth models are treated in detail. Mainly the effects of mantle anelasticity, fluid parts of the earth, such as fluid outer core and oceans, and variations of atmospheric angular momentum are of primary concern. Interrelations between oceanic and solid earth tides are also investigated.
